Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer that is well known for her incredibly praised performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano was a huge success and won her many awards and an Oscar. She started her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. Awed by acting since high school days, she played Helen Keller in a play when she was in fifth grade. In the aftermath of suffering from Mumps, she went deaf to one side of her ear. However, this hasn't stopped her aspirations to become an actor. She studied theater in college and then moved into New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Through a random encounter, she became stuck in an elevator along with writer Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart the play that would become Hunter's debut. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure one of them as a character Swing Shift. For the last 30 years Holly Hunter has been on several TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is also the recipient of The Women in Film Lucy Award.
